9. Room For Two

Working together in business with your partner can have its challenges… but there’s room for two! 

This week we talk about fitting both personalities of your relationship into your business. Because there are two of you, you can experience what’s known as the “edge effect”. Just like in ecology, where 2 ecosystems colliding create more abundant and versatile life, your two personalities in business actually bring about more creation. 

You can create something better than either one of you individually could ever have created. 

Our hot tip is to divide and conquer. Slip up the tasks and assign responsibilities in your business based on your strengths and weaknesses. 

For example, I (Austin) am really good with numbers and organization and like making spreadsheets! So I take charge of the finances and process organization. Monica is very sociable and personable, so she takes the lead in client interactions and networking. This divide helps us capitalize on our strengths but also means our business can grow 2x as much in the same amount of time! 

It’s important to have regular check-ins with each other so your work stays unified and you move towards your goals together. 

Ultimately, you’re in this business together, and you need to make sure you have each other’s backs! Support one another, and as you divide roles based on your tasks, your business with grow even further!
